Sutor Mantelassi at Pitti Uomo with a collection inspired by the Majesty of the Alps
The 2017-18 Sutor Mantellassi Autumn-Winter Collection is inspired by the “Casa del Sole”, which the Turin architect Carlo Mollino designed in Cervinia during the 50’s: a vertical village, in contrast to the classic mountain chalets, because of its innovative shape, yet still remaining close to tradition, due to the use of materials such as wood and stone.
A meeting place for aristocrats, entrepreneurs, celebrities; Cervinia in the 50’s and 60’s was part of the Italian ‘Dolce Vita’, who loved to ski on the Plateau Rosà Glacier all year round. Sutor Mantellassi, inspired by Cervinia, has created a collection which is a tribute to those years, and to the majesty of the Alps.
The palette of colours sweeps from all the warm shades of the wood, right through to the cold greys of the rock. The main materials used are hand-tinted master fabric, veal leather, soft, inverted veal leather and alligator skin.
Among the models, alongside classic shapes, we can find the lightweight mountain boot, adapted for the city, moccasins with exotic tassels, and a range of footwear in three materials: hand-tinted leather, textured leather and suede.
For the 2017-2018 Autumn-Winter collection, our collaboration with Scott Schuman has been consolidated and enriched by new models.
